Customers' Web Reviews: The ONLY honest mechanic in LA.
So i came back from a wonderful vacation to find that my car had a flat tire... Lame. After putting the donut on, i yelped "tire repair" and Crestview came up with great reviews, so i gave it a shot... I was greeted in an extremely helpful and friendly manner, and they ended up finding the problem (nail in the tire), and fixing the tire in 20 minutes. Cost me 20 bucks... I will never go anywhere else for tire repair! Highly recommended! I can't recommend these guys enough. One of the big reasons I miss living on the west side. The guys at Crestview were my go-to mechanics for everything my car needed. Mike and Steve are great, and the entire staff really knows their stuff. My family has had an auto repair shop in another part of the state since the 1930s, and I know many shop owners in LA, so I feel that I have something of an advantage when choosing an auto repair shop. And when I am in the Beverly Hills/Pico-Robertson area, I choose Crestview. I've been going to crestview on and off for over twenty years. Somtimes I go elsewhere for cheaper prices, and I get what I paid for. They have high integrity and are straight forward knowledgeable, timely, and honest. They are not cheap, but they are probably listed in the dictionary under the word "Quality." And no I am not related to them. I had been going to Crestview for about two years and had received great service. Then about two weeks ago, I was in a car accident, right before I was leaving town for a week. I contacted Crestview and they waited a bit past closing time to make sure the tow truck could drop my car off. From there, they communicated with a body shop and the responsible party to see that all the body work and repairs would be done while I was gone. Monday, when I picked up my car, she was like new. The body shop they had recommended did an impeccable job, and the car itself felt better than it did when I bought it new. Considering that car accidents are usually such a nightmare, I felt incredibly confident that when I got back to town, my car would be ready to roll, and sure enough, this family owned and operated establishment came through like a champ.

Contributor December 19, 2008 I needed a flat tire replaced and Mike gave me wonderful service. I was in and out within an hour - in time to make it to an interview - and gave me an excellent price on a replacement tire. It's so refreshing to go to a service station that is friendly and honest. I will definitely be taking my car back there for any future repairs.

Contributor August 01, 2008 I first went to Crestview 3 years ago when I bought my used car - the owner went there to get a battery. Then, a year or so later, the engine quit on me in the middle of traffic...I was able to restart, and although it happened several times more I was able to limp into Crestview. They fixed me up; no problem. The next year I went in for a tuneup - and was told I needed new tires; apparently mine were 7 years old. I hadn't noticed becuase they still had a lot of tread, but the mechanic at Crestview told me old tires were dangerous, so I replaced them. Several weeks later there was a news flash on TV talking about the danger of old tires - I was happy I had replaced them, and please note when I took my car into the Ford shop previously no one had pointed out the danger. Then, most recently, I ran into a problem with gas reaching the engine - let's face it, my car is a 1989 Ford Tempo and things like this will happen occasionally. So once again I went in to Crestview and they did a swell job fixing the problem, even got me a new original part. So now I'm once again roadworthy and all is well with the world. Oh, one thing - when I asked them to saw off the top of my car in order to turn it into a convertible, they wouldn't do it- in case you're wondering this is a joke :) Seriously, good work, good price, good attitude - check them out!
A Mechanic You Can Trust!

January 29, 2008 While driving along the other night, I nailed a pothole the size of a small child. This immediately flattened my tire and I was stuck on a donut for 2 days. While scanning CitySearch I found this Mechanic and called to see about a tire. On the phone they were beyond nice, and when I asked if it was ok to get just 1 new tire, they informed me that if all the others were fine, there's no need to get all new ones. (WOW! A repair shop that tells the truth!) Anyways, I got there and when they took the tire off we saw that the wheel was totally bent from the pothole. As I saw dollar signs, Steve said they would do what they could. I was skeptical, but went in and sat down to read my Tom Cruise Biography. About 20 minutes later they had fixed my tire, salvaging the wheel and all for a phenomenal price! The best part was when I got back to work and looked in the trunk to put the jack, wrench and donut away, I saw that they had already done all of that for me. This is a full service auto shop and I will be telling EVERYONE about them. Thanks guys! <>Pros: HONEST, Fast, Great Prices Cons: None.

Contributor December 19, 2007 I took my 1995 Lexus to the dealer for brakes. The estimate was $600.00. A friend suggested I take the car to Crestview Service. Not only was my bill $200.00 less, but the experience was an eye opener. This is a family owned and operated business with lots of experience. I found them honest and knowledgeable and being a woman I completely trust them. I will never take my car anywhere else. Carlee Rose

Contributor November 11, 2005 after not getting good service anywhere else i called this car place and they were very happy to talk to me. i was able to get in soon and they were experienced and fixed my brakes immediately. their prices were very good. i got a good deal. their customer service was outstanding. Actually, I'm rather surprised that Crestview isn't already in the database. Maybe Steve's clientele has been trying to keep him Crestview a secret--and I can hardly blame them.My family has four cars, one for each of us. Three are Jeeps- two Grand Cherokee V8s (95 & 97 I believe), one 91 Cherokee v6 4L-HO, and one '88 Saab 900S convertible. As I would imagine many Westside families do, for ages we took our cars to the dealerships of service. The jeeps, first because they were new and warrantied, and then because of their supposed sophistication. The Saab went back to Lindquist (gone now) every time it hiccupped (usually pretty worrisome hiccups) which was pricey, and ultimately useless. Turns out that both the Saab dealer, and the Jeep dealer (Buerge) are all owned by the same outfit. We were getting bilked outrageously, and at great personal inconvenience--and the repairs often proved temporary, or entirely ineffectual. When this situation really got out of hand (the Jeeps aging, the Saab straight-up _old_) we knew we had to figure something else out. We're not car people, though, and didn't really know any reputable private mechanics. We had had our share of misadventures, sure, but up until that point they had only served to reenforce our illusion that reliable quality service was easiest to find at the dealership. Ha. Hah-ha. Anyway, we were referred to Crestview through a family friend; now our auto-repair troubles are over. The Kreigers are professional, intelligent, understanding, courteous, even humorous, and HONEST, HONEST, HONEST... You'll be told immediately if completeing a repair makes poor economic sense, or if you'd be better off taking minor work elsewhere. Similarly, excellent referrals are in the offering if Crestview doesn't deal with your specific problem. This is rare, however. They work on all kinds of cars, and they are never not busy, which is a good thing in my eyes. They will arrange for after-hours drop-offs, if neccesary, and are very good about keeping you apprised of the status of your repair. The sheer volume of letters, photos, and other memorabilia that covers that walls of their little office is a testament to the loyalty of their clientele to this excellent father-and-son shop. If nothing else, I recommend including them when making the rounds with some spot of trouble. I won't take my car (the v6 4L Jeep--125k miles now) anywhere else--and I spend most of my year in Portland, Oregon! (They've kept it going up and down I-5 and US-395 for years now. Without them I might very well find myself stranded at school at the end of term, unable to come home and forced to accept some unspeakably servile form of employment merely to subsist. Egads!)

How many car owners can say that their relationship started as professional with their mechanic and actually became a friendship? Great people, capable mechanics, reasonable repair prices performed in a timely and professional manner, and no unnecessary work done! I trust them, and even have my daughter call from college to get second opinions on the work recommended by her local mechanic. --reviewer #51086, 2003
Crestview Service - What a great place! By far the best experience I've ever had in all my years of driving. After some serious nightmares dealing with a VW dealer I decided to try out this family-owned shop. I had heard from someone that they were good, and it turns out they are much better than good. Extremely competent, reasonably priced, very friendly, call you regularly with updates on your car, and just down the street from a rental car agency that charges only $20/day - what more could anyone ask for. Needless to say my days of going to a dealer are over. I've found a new home with Crestview! --reviewer #80498, 2006
All my friends in the neighborhood use Crestview. Mike is friendly and helpful and honest. I have been VERY happy with the service I recieved and due to my experience with them, I will never use a Jiffy Lube or other non=indepenent shop again. My only regret is that I moved to Pittsburgh and have to start all over with someone new! --reviewer #84160, 2006 the best service i've had in the last 10 years--tired of going back to my volvo dealer every 5,000 miles and getting ripped off--went to 2 other places before i found them on your recommended list--t'is a pity cause i have seen their shop for the last 40 years--they did a job for $280.00 on my 1995 850 that another independant wanted to charge APPROXIMATELY $3,000.00---listen to you weekly--thank you-- thank you--thank you-- --reviewer #113745, 2008
